Abstract

410,097. Toy vehicles. LINES BROS., Ltd., and LINES, W., Tri-ang Works, Morden Road, Merton, London. Nov. 8, 1932, No. 31476. [Class 132 (iii).] Brake mechanism for a clockwork-driven toy vehicle comprises a coiled spring mounted upon a line road wheel or other axle and adapted to rotate therewith, said spring having an arm which projects tangentially from the axle and is adapted to be engaged by a detention device when the latter is brought into the path of the said arm by a brake operating lever. The brake mechanism comprises a long coiled spring a secured at one end to or frictionally mounted on the live road wheel or other axle b, the end of the spring forming an arm a<1> projecting tangentially from the axle b. The brake lever d operates the wire brake-rod c having at its end a loop or frame c<1> slidably guided in the gear casing e. The brake rod c is supported at a point intermediate its ends by an arm or bracket e', the bracket e' in the gear casing e being rigidly supported on the vehicle chassis f. With the brake lever d in the "off" position, Fig 2, the arm a<1> rotates with the axle b free of the loop or frame c<1>, but with the brake lever d in the " on " position the arm a<1> is a engaged by the frame c<1> and the spring a is coiled tightly on the axle b with a smooth and progressive action to stop rotation of the axle and transmission gear.
