Abstract
Apparatus for the withdrawal of liquid extracts, for example, for extracting fatty sub <PICT:0409935/III/1> stances from oleaginous grains or oil cake, in which the liquid extract is withdrawn at a constant distance (which may be nil) from the upper level YY of the liquid, comprises a main liquid container, for instance a column 1, in which the exhausting liquid and the material to be exhausted travel in opposite directions f<2>, f<1>, respectively, and liquid discharging means 8 connected to a float 10 at a predetermined distance from its floating plane, the float being disposed in a receiving chamber 4 separated from the column 1 by a perforated wall 5. The material to be exhausted travels downwardly on perforated discs 2 mounted on movable chains and the upwardly travelling liquid may be subjected to a static load. The liquid discharging means 8 comprises a tube the upper end of which opens at the level XX a constant distance from the upper level YY and the lower end of which passes out through a stuffing box 11 into an outlet pipe 6.
