409,613. Filaments for electric incandescent lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Nov. 22, 1933, No. 32643. Convention date, March 22. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (ii).] Wire structures such as filaments of zig-zag or coiled form for electric incandescent lamps are constructed of wire gauze the wires of which are of different materials. The gauze is bent into the required shape and some of the wires are removed by chemical action, such as solution in inorganic acids. The gauze may be rolled to increase its rigidity. In the example given the gauze is of tungsten or molybdenum of 100 microns diameter or less interwoven with iron wires and rolled. After bending to the required shape the iron wires are dissolved out in hydrochloric acid. Brass wires may be used. Some of the soluble wires may be replaced by chemically resistant wires to provide supports.
