Abstract

408,366. Prismatic reflectors. HOLOPHANE, Ltd., and ENGLISH, S., Holophane House, Elverton Street, Vincent Square, London. Nov. 9, 1932, No. 31659. [Class 75 (ii).] In a prismatic reflector having on its inner surface prisms which direct light toward the outer surface at angles such that total reflection takes place at the outer surface, one or both internal faces of such prisms are formed with auxiliary light redirecting prisms 14, corrugations or flutes. The auxiliary prisms may be approximately 90‹ prisms which have sharp or rounded tops and bottoms and refract light symmetrically, or may be formed as the prisms 31 shown in Fig. 6, so as to refract the light sideways. The outer surface of the reflector may be smooth, etched, fluted, rippled, or pebbled. Specifications 315,114, [Class 75 (ii)], and 380,867 are referred to.
