[Class 80 (iii).] The helmet 1 of a hair - drier is connected with a support 4 through a linkage by which the helmet is moved forward and downward with respect to the head, the first part of the movement being accompanied by rotation in one sense and the last part by rotation in the other sense. A bracket 5 is swivelled for rotation about a vertical axis and has a flange 6 formed with a bearing for a shaft 8 on which is pivoted a bell crank lever 10. A clamping nut 13 and suitable washers serve to fix the drier in adjusted position. One arm 16 of the lever 10 is bifurcated and is pivotally connected to a flange 18 of the housing 3 by means of a pin 17. The other arm 19 is provided with a handle 20. An arcuate link 21 has its bifurcated ends pivotally connected at 22, 23 to the flanges 18, 6 respectively. The bracket 5 and an abutment 24 limit the rotation. The drier will remain in its retracted position under the action of gravity. The linkages 23 ... 8, 8.... 17, and 17 ... 22 are of substantially equal lengths, the fourth linkage 22 .... 23 being substantially twice as long, so that the movement of the helmet on raising the handle 20 is that described above.
