Abstract

439,310. Levers; Bowden mechanism. WEBB & CO., Ltd., H. C., and TAYLOR, F. W., Tame Road, Witton, Birmingham. July 16, 1934, No. 20784. [Class 80 (iii)] [See also Group XXXI] A bell-crank or like lever, adapted more particularly for actuating cycle and other brakes through the medium of Bowden mechanism, comprises a pair of parts one of which can be pivotally adjusted relatively to the other part without affecting the position of the latter. A sheet metal bracket b is secured to the handle bar a by a clip c hinged to the bracket at one end and connected to it at the other end by bolt and nut e, f. The bracket is folded to form two sides g, the closed end forming an abutment for the sheath h of the Bowden mechanism. One of the lever parts consists of a pair of plates i adapted to receive between them the other part j, and also a trunnion l to which the flexible cable k is attached. Both lever parts are pivoted on a bolt n, and each part has one or more holes o through which a pin p may be passed to secure the parts in the position required. An extended range of adjustability may be obtained by reversing the part j.
