Brake mechanism.- In cycle &c. brakes of similar type to those described in Specification 278,077, a brake control bar or lever follows the general outline of the handle-bar from the end of the hand grip to the central stem, and swings as a whole to or from the handle-bar about its pivoted or movablysupported ends to apply one or more brakes, the pressure of the hand being applied at any point between the pivoted ends. As shown, the inner ends of two levers e, e<1>, Figs. 1 and 3, pass through the sides of the box-like end c of a lever c, c<1>, and are provided with arms e<2>, which engage the interior of the box lever so as to rock it about its pivot b<1> carried by a clip b on the handle-bar stem, the front and rear brakes being thus applied by means of rods d, d<1>. The outer ends of the levers e, e<1> may be pivoted at f<3> to depending lugs f<1> on the ends of the handle-bar, or may be formed with return bends which enter the ends of the handle-bar grips and are there provided with pivotal or rocking supports, springs associated with such pivotal &c. supports effecting the return movement of the levers.
