Abstract

[Class 118 (ii).] To provide an intermittent light signal, a shutter is oscillated before a fixed source of light, the moving force being derived from the varying permeability of an iron magnetic' circuit in an A.C. field. As described, the obturator 3, which has an aperture 4 and carries armature 9, is carried by the cantilever device comprising springs 6, 7 and support 8. When alternating current is connected to the circuit comprising condensers 15, 16 and inductance 11, the armature 9 reciprocates across the pole pieces of the mag. netic core 10 and consequently the obturator 3 oscillates and produces an intermittent light signal.
