Abstract
406,595. Proportional compasses. AUSTERMAYER, J., 1, Chemin de Mornex, Lausanne, Switzerland. Aug. 31, 1933, No. 24168. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1932. [Class 97 (iii).] Proportional compasses for use in perspective drawing comprise two tongues which control the proportionality of the limbs of the compass and which can be set on a diagram provided on the perspective ground. The compasses comprise legs 4, 6 and 5, 7, Fig. 6, pivoted about a screw pin 11 which extends between two metal clamping pieces 14, 15 through slots in the legs. One tongue 2 is mounted on the member 14 and the other tongue 1 on the leg 4 so that by unclamping the screw 11 and altering the distance between the tongues, the proportionality of the legs may be altered to its desired value. In the modification shown in Fig. 10, the tongues are the points of the leg 4 and of an extra leg 17 pivoted to the leg 4 and provided with a slotted arm 18 which engages and regulates the position of the pivot 19. The compasses may have adjustable points, as shown, or screwed-in points.
