Abstract
406,271. Regulating draught in stoves. BELL'S HEAT APPLIANCES, Ltd., NAPIER, J. K., and SCOTT, C. L., 157, Queen Victoria Street, London. Aug. 20, 1932, No. 23401. [Class 126.] In a stove, boiler, &c., particularly one having accurate air supply control, e.g. by means of a thermostat, the ash-pit door and a spoil-draught damper are connected so that opening of the ash-pit door results in opening of the damper to spoil the draught, the damper being closed automatically to restore the draught when the ash-pit door is closed. Alternatively, the ash-pit door catch and a spoil-draught damper are interconnected for the same purpose. As shown in Fig. 5, the rod 20, which is pressed outwardly by a spring 23, is connected by an intermediately pivoted lever, a rod 27, a bell crank lever 28, a rod 29 and an arm 30 to a spoil-draught damper 32. When the door 2 is closed, a projection 19 on it presses the rod 20 inwards against the spring 23, and so holds the damper 32 so as to close the spoil-draught channel 34. When the door is opened, the rod 20 is pressed outwardly and the damper 32 moved to open the channel 34. In the alternative, shown in Fig. 2, the door catch 6 is mounted on a spindle 15 carrying an arm 14 coupled by a rod 13 and arm 12 to the spindle of the damper 10, which is urged towards the closed position by the spring 11. Stops limit the rotation of the catch. The door may be positively coupled to the damper, and the connection between the door and damper may be adjustable.
