Abstract
278,108. Drake, J. W. July 12, 1926. Draught, regulating.-A furnace is provided with a single flue to control the inflowing air and outflowing combustion gases, which is also connected to the furnace door and to a single thermostatic control. The double acting damper h, Figs. 1 & 5, is pivoted by projections h<1> taking through openings in the wall of the flue m, and controls the flue passage m<1> and air inlet m<2> simultaneously. An adjusting screw h<2> prevents complete closure of the flue. The thermostat a may be mounted on a boiler b or in a room which is to be heated, and is adapted to tilt a lever c which is pivoted at c'. The furnace door f is connected by a chain d' to one end of the lever c, and the damper h by a chain g to the other end of the lever c. Weights 2, 3 are adjustable to counterbalance the door f and damper h.
