Abstract

406,091. Bulkhead doors. JOHNS, SIR A. W., and ALTON, S. L., Department of Naval Construction, Admiralty, London. Nov. 9, 1932, No. 31628. [Class 113 (i).] In bulkhead door closing arrangements, the opening (1) in the bulkhead is surrounded by a fixed frame 2, top and bottom circular ends being connected by straight or curved sides. This fixed frame serves as a seating for a movable frame which is operated by rack gear 17, 18 and comprises similar circular ends 14, 14<a> which are connected to side members 12, 12<a> by links 13. On closure of the door projections 23 thereon pass between recesses 22 on the movable frame the rotation of which by the rack gear causes interior projections to ride over wedge surfaces 10 on the door at the same time pressing a nose on the frame into engagement with the gasket 25. The door is held in the open position by the abutments 26, 27.
