Abstract
405,756. Knitting-machines. INNES, HENDERSON, & CO., Ltd., and SOMERVILLE, T., Victoria Mills, Hawick, Roxburghshire. Oct. 24, 1932, No. 29636. [Class 74 (ii).] The fashioning mechanism of a straight-bar machine for knitting hosiery is operable also to produce lace patterns. The point bars 4 are secured to a slide 3 movable endwise by the fashioning screw 1 upon rotation of the pin and wheel 9 by either of pawls 6, 7. The pawls 6, 7 controlled by the usual cam 15, are operated during loop formation for varying the field of operation of the points 5 by a cam 17 acting upon a follower 19 on the lever 12. The cam 17 may be a multiple-throw cam for imparting a greater movement than one needle space during the formation of a course of the fabric. The pawls 6, 7 are actuated for transferring the loops by a second cam 18. The cam 17 is brought into operation by timing gear driven by the cam shaft 14 and including a ratchet and pawl device, the pawl of which can be held inoperative manually. The cam 18 is brought into operation by the usual shogging of the cam shaft 14.
