[Classes 75 (i), 75 (ii), 75 (iii), and 75 (iv).] A street-lamp, floodlight, or like lamp comprises an inverted incandescent gas burner located substantially upon the straight horizontal focal line of a parabolic trough-shaped reflector so as to produce a concentrated beam. The front and sides of the lamp casing may be glazed so as to produce a general diffused illumination. The reflector may be made of stainless steel, it may be supported by one or more brackets the profiles of which are shaped to correspond to the desired curvature of the reflector, and it may extend continuously from its upper margin behind and above the burner to its lower margin below and in front of the burner. In the form shown, the reflector 18 is secured by screws 20 to a pair of brackets 19, and is supplemented by a lower reflector 21, side reflectors 22, and an upper diffuse reflector formed by a guard 31 of white vitreous enamelled steel. The lamp casing 10 is glazed to form a front window or door 14 and side windows 15, 16, and its position relative to a U-shaped supporting frame 32, 33 is adjusted by means of a clamping nut 45 associated with a slotted quadrant 43 in engagement with a block 44 which extends upwardly from a block 34 on the base plate 35 of the frame. Packing glands 36 are provided so that the arm 32 may carry the main gas supply from a tube 37 and the arm 33 may carry gas from a pipe 39 to a bye-pass burner 41. A number of inverted burners 24 are carried from a common super-heater 25 fed from a mixing tube 26, and thumb nuts 27, 28 permit the adjustment of the burners with respect to the reflector 18. The mixture regulator 29 is controlled by means of an outside knob 30.
