Abstract
405,401. Covering cores by winding. LARMUTH, J. H., (trading as LARMUTH BROS.), Unwin Street, Cross Lane, Salford, near Manchester.-(Etablissements Rotatiss; 7, Place du Combat, Paris.) Oct. 8, 1932, No. 28053. [Class 109.] A core-covering head comprises a rotary disc 6, an independently rotatable tension member 9, and an independently rotatable ratchet member 10 upon which the bobbin for. the covering material is mounted. The disc 6 is connected to the member 9 by a spring 16 and has a spring pawl 22 co-operating with the ratchet member 10. Guides 18, 21 for the covering material are provided upon the member 9 and disc 6. In operation, angular movement of the guides 18, 21 with respect to the ratchet member 10 and bobbin serves to prevent excessive tension upon starting of rotation of the head and to prevent looseness of the wrapped material due to the inertia of the bobbin &c. when the head is stopped. A spring 19 carried by the disc 6 engages the guide 18 when a predetermined relative movement of the disc and member 9 has occurred, and supplements the action of the spring 16. A pin 15 carried by the bobbin 11 may be acted upon magnetically by a sleeve 5 to which the disc 6 is secured. Specification 366,854 is referred to.
