[Class 126.] Imitation fuel elements 14, 15, formed by pressing or moulding synthetic resin comprise elements some of which have internal reflecting surfaces, formed, for example, by a coating of aluminium paint, so that when arranged for example in the louvre-like manner shown, light may be reflected back from the front elements on to the outer surfaces of the rear elements, the latter being wholly or partly translucent so as to be also illuminated by transmitted light. Imitation ash may be provided on the illuminated surface. The elements are of a number of different designs, but some may be of the same design and differently posed in the fire. The inner sides of the elements may be coloured, and may be fitted with separate reflectors, and all of them may be partly or wholly translucent. A reflector 24 at the front of the fire may be used to reflect light up on to the undersurfaces of the fuel elements, and may be integral with an apertured screen 28 behind the imitation grate bars. A screen 20 beneath the elements comprises a pair of rolled glass sheets with colouring material between them, and may be coated in parts with imitation ash. Alternatively, the screens 20, 28 may be made of a single sheet of celluloid. Specifications 404,302 and 405,528 are referred to.
