Abstract

405,089. Loom shedding - mechanism. SMITH, L. B., RAWCLIFFE, G., and PILLING & SONS, Ltd., J., Primet Foundry, Colne, Lancashire. Nov. 26, 1932, No. 33477. [Class 142 (i).] Adjustable means is provided for suspending the heald staves whereby they may be made to approach or recede from one another. In the form shown in Fig. 2, each heald stave is suspended from two straps detachably secured to bowls 9 on a shaft 8 which is mounted in brackets 6 inclined inwardly at their upper ends, adjustable about studs 7, and held in adjusted position by slot and bolt devices 4, 5. Each shaft carries a third bowl to which is attached a strap 13 passing over a pulley 15 and connected to a spring for raising the healds. The shaft 16 of the pulleys 15 is mounted in arms 17 adjustable about pivot bolts 21 on the brackets 6, whereby the tension of the springs may be adjusted. When the brackets 6 are moved towards the vertical, the spacing of the staves is reduced. A dobby may be mounted on a pedestal 22 to operate the lighter lifts. In the form shown in Fig. 5, pairs of jack levers are mounted on shafts 24 carried by brackets 25 adjustable about pivots 26.
