Abstract

405,079. Massage ; air-douches ; electric treatment. NICOL, J. H., and ELECTRONAL, Ltd., 63, Wigton Street, Glasgow. Oct. 20, 1932, No. 29338. [Class 81 (ii).] A massage appliance comprises a hollow cylindrical housing 1 converging into a funnel 5 and having a carrying handle 4. Within the housing is arranged an electric motor 2 which drives a massage disc 14 by means of a shaft 10 having a drunk drive coupling 11. The motor also drives an air impeller 9 which discharges air through an annular passage 8 and out through the funnel 5. An electric heating device 15 is interposed in the path of the air stream. The switch 16 is arranged to operate the motor only, or both the motor and heater 15, thus allowing either hot or cold air to be discharged from the funnel 5. The heater cannot be utilised alone. The massage disc 14 is preferably made of vulcanite so that it may generate static electricity when applied to a patient.
