[Class 131.] In hair-waving appliances of the kind comprising a hair clamp, a curler, and a sheath or cover adapted to be placed over the wound tress, the parts are connected together by a single securing means, the securing means being either attached to, or forming part of, the sheath and adapted to embrace the ends of the curler and also engage with projections on the clamp, or attached to the clamp and adapted to embrace the ends of the curler and engage with projections on the sheath. The sheath or the curler may contain an electric heating element. As shown in Fig. 1, the sheath 3 is provided at its ends with jaws 4 adapted to embrace the end of the curler 2 and to engage beneath the curler supports 1a on the clamp 1. The jaws 4 are normally held closed by a spring and are provided with handles 4a. The jaws 4 may be formed with hook-like projections at the ends adapted to engage bars, projections, or recesses on the clamp. In a modification, the sheath acts as the securing means and comprises a spring clip having two jaws of similar cross-section to the jaws 4. A sachet 5 may be secured around the curler by the securing means. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, the clamp 1 is provided with resilient clips 6 which embrace the ends of the curler 2 and engage projections 3b on the sheath 3. U.S.A.
