[Class 6 (i).] In apparatus for distributing seed, manure, and the like of the type in which rotatable distributing wheels a having peripheral grooves or flutes f to carry the seed from the hoppers of the feed box or boxes to the hoppers of the distributing coulters or the like and in which the capacity of the grooves or flutes is adjustable to regulate the feed by relative axial adjustment between the seed distributing wheels and a member g constituting one end wall of each of the compartments formed by the grooves or flutes, a sliding clutch i, k is provided between each distributing wheel and the driving spindle b therefor, the sliding clutch having manually operable means carried entirely by the driving spindle for positively shifting the slidable clutch member i to effect engagement or disengagement of the clutch against the action of a spring l, so that one or more of the seed distributers may be cut out. The distributing wheels a are rotatably mounted on the driving spindle b, which is of square cross section, by collars m, y. The sliding clutch member i is normally held out of engagement with the clutch dogs k on the distributing wheels by the spring l bearing on the collar m, axial movement of the distributing wheels being prevented by a pin x passing through the spindle b, but is moved into engagement therewith by turning a double L-shaped or U-shaped actuating pin, the centre limb o of which passes radially through the spindle b, so that the limbs p, of the pin are parallel with the axis of the spindle b. The clutch is disengaged by turning the actuating pin so that the limbs p, q are at right angles to the axis of the spindle b. The actuating pin may be manipulated by means of a tool, s, Fig. 5.
