404,202. Shearing. SCHMIDT, W., 14, Burgstrasse, Erfurt, Germany. May 29, 1933, No. 15501. [Classes 83 (iii) and 83 (iv).] Reproducing.-In a machine for shearing the edge of a plate 2 clamped to a stationary table 1a, rotary cutters 13, 14 are mounted on a carriage moved to effect the cut. The cutters are mounted on shafts 45 driven by an electromotor, a slip clutch 48 on the lower shaft equalising the speeds of cutting disks of unequal diameter. The cutters are carried in a frame 16 adjustable about the cutting point by a rack 22 to vary the bevel angle of the cut. The end of the carriage is guided in rails 30, shaped according to the cut required, by rollers 10 on eccentric pins. By adjusting the pins the plane of the cutters is slewed relatively the line of the cut. In a modification a similar adjustment is made by mounting the bearings for the cutters shafts with slack in the direction of travel, Fig. 12, not shown. The upper blade shaft may be adjustable about trunnions and the bottom shaft may be adjusted in the vertical and horizontal directions.
