[Class 97 (i).] In a film magazine the film tension is controlled by one or more springy or spring-urged members mounted on the magazine adjacent the film opening or openings, and engaging the film at such opening; the members may form part of the wall of the magazine. As shown in Fig. 1, film containers 2 having plates 5 connected by a hinge 6 are provided with curved plates 12 slidably mounted outside the containers, the plates 12 being urged by springs 17 so that their curved ends 13 engage the film passing through openings 8. The plates 12 may be resilient, and the ends 13 may be enclosed in velvet or the like, so that, when the containers are folded together about the hinge, a completely lighttight enclosure of the film is obtained. Fig. 7 shows a magazine for a single coil of film, in which a member 49 having a curved end 52 extending inwardly is housed between the wall of the magazine and a guide member 50, and is pressed by a spring 51 against a curved socket piece 53 at the opposite side of the film opening. The magazine has a radially extending side plate 45 and lugs 54 which assist in locating the magazine in the apparatus. Constructions of single-chamber magazines for two spools having a recess between the film openings are described ; in each construction the wall between the film openings is resilient, and is formed with rolled ends at the openings, the rolls extending inwards in one case and outwards in the other.
