Abstract
537,637. Goggles. WHEWAY OPTICAL CO., Ltd., and WHEATLEY, R. C. March 20, 1940, No. 5204. [Class 97 (i)] Spectacle lenses are removably carried in the glazed apertured mountings of gas masks by means of a ring having projections, of which at least one is rigid and at least one is resilient. Fig. 2 shows a mounting comprising screwed annular parts c d having flanges e f holding a glass a with the aid of a sealing ring g. A lens is carried in a ring i having a rigid projection k and two spring wire arms m terminating in finger pieces n and having kinks o. The projection k and kinks o are engaged under the flange e by pressing and releasing the pieces n when putting the lens in place, on the outside of the glass a. Fig. 3 shows a modification for insertion on the inner side of the glass wherein circular ends on the arms m engage the mounting and kinks q form the finger pieces. Specification 509,025 is referred to.
