Abstract
403,156. Cooling cylinders. HAMMOND, E. V., 88, Louisville Road, Balham, London. July 14, 1932, No. 19942. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii).] In a cylinder cooling-arrangement, in which a cooling-liquid tank a is mounted directly above the cylinder jacket e, the tank is detachable, and has incorporated with it, a tank h for lubricating oil, and a tank k for liquid fuel, or one of those tanks alone. The tank a is supported on a tubular member b, which is strengthened by cooling fins c, and extends into the tank to facilitate circulation of the cooling fluid which passes through it and returns by a flexible pipe f. An air space l is provided between the tanks h, k to prevent the fuel from getting too hot. The tank a may be circular or oval and the tank h, which may or may not be integral therewith as shown, may be formed as a jacket entirely or partially surrounding the tank a. In a Diesel engine the tank h may be the heavy fuel oil tank. Specification 108,769, [Class 7 (ii), Internal-combustion engines, Arrangement &c. of], is referred to.
