Abstract

402,500. Rolling. RATCLIFF (METALS), Ltd., J. F., and RATCLIFF, F. G., 21, New Summer Street, Birmingham. June 18, 1932, Nos. 17267. [Class 83 (iv).] Metal strip is led between spring-pressed cleaning-jaws 1, 4 and under a wood block 34 and the end is inserted in the rotating rolls 26 by the hand lever 25, as its rack and pinion 22, 23 moves the frame carrying the jaws 1, 4 towards the rolls. The snatch of the rolls is absorbed by buffer springs 27. The jaw 4 is faced with cleaning canvas &c. stretched between rods 19 held in curved lugs 18. The jaw 4 is raised off the strip by hand lever 15 and eccentric and its pressure is adjusted by hand screws 8 on springs 7. Side guides 33 are bolted on the guide 3.
