Abstract

1327146 Rolling mill guides DAVY & UNITED ENG CO Ltd 14 Jan 1972 [11 Feb 1971] 4417/71 Heading B3M A metal strip threading guide 9, which can be positioned between tandem cold rolling mill stands 1 and 2, is supported on parallel links 20 and 21 for movement to a position adjacent either stand. The guide includes an upper set of boards 12 which is movable by cylinders 16 towards a lower set 13, to grip a strip between them. The leading end of a strip is gripped by the guide as it leaves the stand 1 (with the guide in the dotted position). The guide is then pivoted on the links 20 and 21 towards the stand 2, and the strip is passed into the stand. Adjustable guides which contact the strip edges are also provided.
