Abstract
1465467 Rolling mill guides VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHL WERKE ALPINE MONTAN AG 6 Aug 1975 [11 Oct 1974] 32882/75 Heading B3M A guide for tensioning strip 2 entering a roll stand includes wooden brake bars 8 mounted in a fixed lower platen 4 and a movable upper platen 5, the bars for the upper platen being held in place by spring-loaded clamps 11. The clamps are connected by arms 15 to an actuating shaft 16 which can be rotated to withdraw the clamps from the bars to allow them to be adjusted laterally or replaced. To enable the clamps to be operated individually, in groups, or in unison, each arm 15 is clutchable to the shaft 16 by a slidable dog clutch member 18 (Fig. 2). The outer two bars of the lower platen are laterally adjustable by an oppositely threaded rod 28, and the adjacent bars of the lower platen can be simultaneously moved by co-operating edge guides 27 and 29.
