Abstract

401,855. Cycle gear-cases. RALEIGH CYCLE CO., Ltd. and RAVEN, W. H., Faraday Road, Lenton, Nottingham. Sept. 21, 1932, No. 26224. [Class 136 (i).] A gear-case is connected directly to a cycle frame by means of screw fastenings. A gear case a, having a detachable circular plate b at the front end and a central opening c for the passage of the chain stay tube d, is attached to the tube d by means of screws f, h engaging respectively a tapped hole in the front end of the tube d, or in a boss e thereon, and a tapped hole in the slotted end plate i, or in an abutment boss near the rear end of the tube d, the screw in the latter case being inserted through a lug on the case located at the rear end of the opening c. Alternatively, the frame tube may be provided with screw-threaded projections adapted to pass through apertures in the case and provided with securing-nuts. The gear case may be reinforced by metal plates or strips adjacent to the screws.
