Abstract

401,437. Pressure-regulating valves. LIDSEEN, G., 830, South Central Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A. July 15, 1932, No. 20127. Convention date, March 25. [Class 135.] A pressure regulator has a needle valve member loosely supported by a spring loaded abutment coupled through toggle link mechanism to a spring loaded actuating bellows. The actuating bellows 20 is secured to a flange 21 on a plug 19 screwed in the casing and at its closed end is fitted internally with a bearer plate 23 for a loading spring 25 arranged within a tubular adjusting screw screwed into the plug 19. Externally the closed end is fitted with an abutment plate 22 engaging one link 36 of the toggle link mechanism. This link which is substantially disc shaped with a convex upper surface has a projection 37 loosely engaging a hole 38 in the casing and is formed with passage ways 40. A second toggle link 42 is arranged between a projection on the link and a hole in a spring loaded abutment plate 30. This plate is loosely guided by a tongue 31 working in a groove in the casing and is provided centrally with a curved depression to receive a corresponding head on the valve spindle which is secured in position by a bifurcated clip engaging an annular groove 35. The tapered valve member co-operates with a seat 6 held in position by bending over a flange on the casing and is so arranged that the point never leaves the passage way 8. The passage way 8 leads by way of a larger passage 5 to an inlet chamber c fitted with a strainer 1. The exterior surface of a closure plug 27 preventing access to the screw driver slot 26 for adjusting the load is made cylindrical to prevent easy removal and the plugs 12 and 19 also have cylindrical outer surfaces but have a notch 67 to receive a special removing wrench. In a modification the pivoted member 36 is replaced by a reciprocating member having two parallel limbs carrying two guide rollers engaging the casing and straddling a third guide roller adjustably mounted on the casing.
