Abstract

401,347. Swinging seats. IRA CO. SWISS WOOD WORKS, Soleure, Switzerland. May 12, 1932, No. 13681. Convention date, June 30, 1931. [Class 52 (ii).] In a swinging chair of the type wherein movement of the foot-rest causes the seat to swing in parallel planes between supporting side frames, the footrest is disposed in a frame member extending in front of the seat and in the same plane as, or in a plane parallel with, the seat in all positions of the latter during its swing. Such a device is shown in Fig. 1, comprising supporting side frames 1,. 7 and a swingable seat 2, carried by links 4. The foot-rest 9 is pivoted at 10 to a forwardly extending frame 8, and is connected to the forward links 4 by links 11. If the links 11 are flexible, the parts 8, 9 may be slid beneath the seat, when not in use. The seat carries a back 2a, angularly adjustable by means of the device 3.
