Abstract

400,989. Speedometers combined with clocks. BRITISH JAEGER INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., North Circular Road, and LENOIR, R. M. J., 22, Lonsdale Road, Barnes, both in London. May 5, 1932, No. 12987. [Classes 106 (iii) and 106 (iv).] The circular dial of a speedometer has a clock face eccentrically marked on it, clock mechanism being arranged in the same circular casing as, and in front of and supported by, the speed mechanism. The speedometer pointer 15 and speedometer dial 12 are concentrically mounted with respect to the cylindrical casing 11 and the dial has eccentrically marked on it a clock dial 21 over which move the hands 19, 20 driven from the clock mechanism 17 mounted concentrically with the clock dial. The speedometer mechanism 13 has a spindle 14 provided with an extension 16 passing through apertures 173, 174 in the plates 171, 172 of the clock mechanism and carrying the pointer 15. The clock mechanism 17 is situated between the speedometer mechanism 13 and the dial 12. Winding and setting mechanism 22, 23 for the clock extends to the outside of the dashboard. The speedometer mechanism is mounted in the casing by a supporting frame 24 which has a pair of brackets 27 drilled and tapped in their sides and extending between two ears 28 bent up from a plate 29 screwed to the back of the clock mechanism. The ears have holes 30 to take clamping screws 31, the holes 30 being large enough to allow radial adjustment of the clock mechanism with respect to the speedometer dial. The casing may be extended beyond the plane of the dial and provided with lateral windows for admitting illumination. Any kind of electrically or mechanically operated clock mechanism may be used. The speedometer mechanism may be of any type and may be as described in Specifications 220,601 and 225,522, [both in Class 106 (iii), Fares &c.], which describe periodic-counter type speedometers. Specifications 15530/07, [Class 106, Registering &c.], and 193,281, [Class 106 (iii), Fares &c.], are also referred to. According to the Provisional Specification the clock mechanism can be combined with pressure-ofoil or anv other indicator mechanism instead of the speedometer mechanism.
