Abstract

436,880. Indicating-apparatus. NEW, C. E., 20, Bucklersbury, Wallbrook, and ROSE, S. A. M., 111, Gray's Inn Road, both in London. April 20, 1934, No. 11958. [Class 106 (iv)] The movements of a member of a pressure-indicating instrument of the Bourdon tube, diaphragm or bellows type, or of a temperature indicating instrument of the Bourdon tube or bi-metallic type are indicated by directing a beam of light on to a reflector adjustably attached to the member, the light then being reflected on to a scale. Light from a lamp 1 passes to a mirror 3 adjustably attached to the rotatable spindle of the measuring instrument. The light is reflected on to a pair of mirrors 6 and thence to a scale of V-shape so that it can be observed from three directions. The position of the mirrors 6 can be adjusted by a knob 10 and that of the lamp by first loosening screws 11. A coloured screen 17 tints the light beam in a predetermined scale area while in another area the beam actuates a light-sensitive cell 16 to operate electric signals. In a modification, Fig. 8, the light is reflected by a prism 18 on to a prism 3 adjustably secured to the instrument shaft 4, and thence to a circular scale 7. Specification 407,689 is referred to.
