[Class 78 (i).] In a machine for making deposits of articles or viscous liquids such as chocolate, cream, or batters from a fixed point or transverse line in a series or group of consecutive rows in turn upon a series of spaced trays or moulds while the main body of the tray &c. conveyer is travelling continuously, the reciprocation of a portion of the conveyer 1 which is caused by an eccentric 15 is modified periodically by a cam 18 for the purpose of skipping the spaces between trays. The conveyer passes in a pair of oppositely disposed bights over chain wheels mounted upon a slidable carriage 8 and around fixed chain wheels which provide an unobstructed upper run as described in Specification 275,410, [Class 78 (i), Conveyers &c.]. A link 11 connects the carriage 8 to a lever 12 which is fulcrummed at 12a in one end of a slider 13, the other end of which is connected to an arm 20 pivoted at 21. The lever 12 is connected to the strap of the eccentric 15 by a connecting rod 14, and the arm 20 carries a roller 19 which engages a cam-grooved disc 18. If the shaft of the eccentric makes six revolutions to one of the shaft 17, then the action of the lever 12 will be modified after it has imparted six reciprocations to the carriage for the deposition of six rows on a tray, and the conveyer will be accelerated to skip the space between this tray and the next at the depositing station.
