Abstract

400,672. Apparatus for making tea. ABSOLOM, G. A., 52, Lansbury Drive, Hayes, Middlesex. May 2, 1932, No. 12555. [Class 129.] In apparatus for making tea or similar beverages at a predetermined time, the water boiler and teapot are placed on opposite ends of a pivoted platform so that transference of the heated water can operate a switch to cut out the electric heating circuit and complete an alarm bell circuit. The general arrangmeent is shown in the Figure. The water is heated in the boiler 13 when a time switch in the clock 28 completes the heating circuit. Transference of the boiling water by siphoning from the boiler 13 to the teapot 14 rocks the platform 10 causing a mercury switch to interrupt the heating circuit and make a circuit to ring an alarm bell. The same movement may light the lamp 32 also, if this is connected at 33. The lamp may be switched off independently at 31. A switch 30 is inserted for switching off the alarm bell.
