Abstract

400,449. Speed governors. HEINZMANN, M. J., Koetzschenbroda, Saxony, Germany. Dec. 19, 1932, No. 36023. Convention date, June 6. [Class 57.] A centrifugal governor comprises weights loaded by springs f and movement of the sleeve is transmitted by lever h<3> secured to spindle b to which are attached the ends of spiral springs f<2> .. f<5>, the other ends of the springs being housed in slots in a rotatable box k. For low speeds the box k is rotated in one direction and the springs f<2>, f<3> come into action to oppose the action of the springs f. For high speeds the box is rotated in the reverse direction and the springs f<4>, f<5> come into action successively to assist the springs f. The spindle b is provided with a lever h<4> upon which a lever spring f<1> is pivoted, the other end of the spring being secured to a block u guided in the casing g and also with a roller q engaging a surface x, y, z formed upon the box. This spring is used to adjust the degree of irregularity at low speeds. The engine is stopped by rotating the box k so that a bolt b<3> engages a lever h<1> on the spindle b. In a modification the springs f are not employed and the governor is loaded only by spiral springs arranged in the box k to come into action successively.
