Abstract
400,146. Gas valves. OTTO & CO., GES., DR. C., 9, Christstrasse, Bochum, Germany. July 3, 1933, No. 18820. Convention date, July 2; 1932. [Class 135.] Closure members, dual.-A closure device, more particularly for the gas receptacles of distillation furnaces, comprises a hinged throttle valve b of smaller diameter than the seat opening thereby providing a leaky closure. The gas leakage at the small annular gap e in the closed position, is stopped by the supply of a sprinkling liquid, such as ammoniacal water, in excess of the water leakage through the gap e. Excess liquid is discharged through a lateral submerged overflow formed by a J-shaped channel f with a rising limb a<3> which may be adjustable.
