399,447. Feeding sheets. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK AKT.-GES. HEIDEL. BERG, Heidelberg, Germany. May 30, 1933, No. 15616. Convention date, June 11, 1932. [Class 100 (i).] Sheet - separators.-A sheet-separator of the kind in which a number of suction devices 2 formed with suctionnozzles 4 are mounted on a common pipe 1 is arranged so that it can be adapted for lifting papers of various thicknesses readily and efficiently. For lifting thick papers the bores 5 of the nozzles 4 act directly on the sheet, but for thin sheets a rail 11 fitted with smaller apertures 12 is slid over the nozzles 4 by means of a handle 13, and the apertures 12 are preferably registered with the bores 5 by an extension 14 of the handle 13 which engages the first nozzle 4 when registration occurs. The shield 11 is formed with an unbroken bottom surface which rests like a ruler on the paper. Each nozzle can be put out of action by rotating it by means of a handle 8 which puts :a transverse bore 6 out of register with an opening 7 in the suction pipe 1.
