Abstract
399,106. Branch fittings for pipes. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-, 28, Southampton Buildings, London.-(Chase Cos., Inc. ; Waterbury, Connecticut, U.S.A.) March 16, 1933, No. 8042. [Class 99 (i).] A branch fitting for lateral application to a main 21 and adapted to be soldered or welded thereto comprises a coupling sleeve 23 and a resilient sheet-metal saddle member 20, the latter being of such shape and size as to embrace the main snugly and to an extent slightly in excess of a semicircle and providing means whereby the branch fitting is frictionally engaged with the main and held thereto during the soldering operation. The coupling sleeve and saddle may be integral with or separable from each other, and both may be provided with perforations 27, 28 to receive solder ; the sleeve is also preferably formed with a spun bead 25 to form a stop for the branch 26. Fig. 10 shows a modification in which the saddle is narrower and is provided with resilient fingers 29 along its edges.
