399,061. Accumulators. BRITANNIA BATTERIES, Ltd., 233, Shaftesbury Avenue, London. - (Accumulatoren-Fabrik Akt.-Ges. ; 3, Askanischer Platz, Berlin.) Jan. 21, 1933, No. 2040. Convention date, Jan. 22, 1932. [Class 53.] An accumulator in which air is drawn over the surface of the electrolyte to remove gases is provided with a check valve t which closes the air entrance when the suction fan stops and prevents gases escaping into the battery room. The valve may be actuated by the gas pressure or by electrical or mechanical means depending on the operation of the fan. In order to prevent entry of water when the accumulator is used on ships a float valve s<2> is provided which closes the opening v<1> on the entrance of water. Condensation or other water entering the exhaust pipe r escapes through a trap w provided with a float s<1>, a third float s<3> preventing water from entering the accumulator through the gas exit in case of flooding.
