Gas exits.-A gas exit consists of a tube A having an opening D near the lower end for the escape of gas and openings C<2> for the return of any electrolyte that escapes through concentric layers F of gauze surrounding the tube A. The upper end of the tube may be provided with a spring- pressed ball or mushroom valve H. The opening D is above the level of the electrolyte in all positions of the battery.
