Abstract
398,775. Type-bar-making machines. TYPOGRAPH GES., 17, Huttenstrasse, Berlin. May 2, 1933, No. 12778. Convention date, July 6, 1932. Addition to 398,451. [Class 100 (iii).] Assembling matrices ; driving-mechanism.- In the apparatus described in the parent Specification, the adjustment of the ramp-rail, by which the level of the matrix-bars is determined, is effected independently of the controllever by the depression of keys. The controllever 2, Fig. 2, is rigidly mounted on its shaft 4, and the cam 11, that adjusts the ramp-rail, is, as heretofore, slidably mounted on the shaft, and is adjusted by a lever 14 and a link 15. The other end of the link is connected to a lever 18, Fig. 3, which can be adjusted to any one of three positions by means of three keys 33, 34, 35. The lever 18 is normally maintained in its highest position against a stop 20 by a spring 21. The lever can be held in either of two lower positions by pivoted catches 24, 25. which are normally held in operative position in contact with stop-pins by springs. The catches have arms 30, 31, which can be engaged by pins on the key-rods, to depress the catches out of operative position. Each of the keys is adapted to depress the lever 18 into its lowest position. One of the keys also depresses both of the catches, so that the lever returns to its highest position. A second key depresses the lower catch 25, so that the lever is arrested in an intermediate position by the catch 24. The third key does not affect the catches, so that the lever is arrested in the lowest position by the catch 25. The keys may be connected together in known manner, so that an operated key is locked in depressed position until released by the striking of another key.
