Abstract
398,769. Insulators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. - (Assignees of Soc. D'Electricite et de Mecanique Procedes Thomson-Houston et Carels Soc. Anon. ; 54, Chaussee de Charleroi, Brussels.) April 24, 1933, No. 11921. Convention date, April 22, 1932. [Class 36.] A fitting, such as a supporting sleeve or flange B, is secured to an insulator I by a ring A which is carried in a groove R in the insulator and which is radially split in one or more places, the ring being formed with threads G for engagement with' the internally-threaded surface of the sleeve or flange B. To prevent rotation of the ring, wedges C may be inserted between the segments of the ring and engage notches in the groove R, or the segments may be formed with projections for engagement in the notches, or the ring may be furnished with a collar which can be gripped from the outside. As shown, the sleeve B is welded to a cap]H which may be secured to a base by a bolt F. The lower end of the insulator butts against the cap H, cardboard or lead packing D being interposed between the butting surfaces. The upper end of the'insulator may carry a similar fitting for supporting contacts &c.
