Abstract
398,382. Rail-track recorders. MAUZIN, A. E., 41, Boulevard de la Gare, Paris. Jan. 6, 1933, No. 524. [Class 106 (iv).] A device for recording the gauge and the out-of-line of the rails of a railway track comprises rail contacting elements each mounted on a carriage movable along a frame in a horizontal direction at right-angles to the track, the contacting elements being adapted to be moved vertically relatively to the carriage to an inoperative position when desired. As shown in Fig. 5, each rail contacting element comprises a shoe 1 mounted on a spring-controlled carriage 3 movable along a frame 5 secured to the vehicle carrying the recording mechanism. A cable is attached to each carriage and passes around pulleys 25, 26, 29, 30 on the frame, a pulley 28 suspended from the frame of the vehicle, and another pulley 27 suspended by a cord under the control of a spring 34. The cord carries a marker cooperating with a recording-strip. A construction of rail contacting element and carriage is shown in Fig. 3 and comprises a shoe 1 with pins 12, 13 supported in a casing 14 and controlled by springs 15, 16. The casing has pins 17, 18 supporting a triangular member 21 at the corners of which are rollers 22, 23, 24 bearing on rods of the frame. The casing is held in the vertical position by a spring-controlled stop element 19, 20. In a modified construction shown in Fig. 4 the rail contacting element 1 is provided with pins 55, 56 forming the axles of rollers 57, 58, which are adapted to run on bars of a framework 59. The framework is guided for vertical movement against the action of springs 63 by means not shown. The above described constructions constitute means whereby the contacting elements may be raised within the clearance limit of the track fitments. The out-of-line condition of the track is recorded by the means shown in Fig. 6 wherein three contacting elements are utilized; the outside elements are connected by cables to the ends of a floating lever 45 and the central element is connected to a cable traversing the lever and terminating in a control spring 49. A Bowden sheath 48 connects the lever 45 to a recording member co-operating with a recording strip.
