Abstract

398,190. Making door handles &c. WALTON, N. J., 92, Hollyfield Road, Sutton Coldfield, and I. C. I. METALS, Ltd., Witton, Birmingham. March 7, 1932, No. 6868. [Class 83 (ii).] Open-grip metal drophandles for doors or the like are made by slicing an extruded bar of cross section corresponding to the desired shape of the handles. The extruded bar may have the contour of the finished handles as at 6, shown in the Figure, or may be flat and bent to shape after extrusion. The process may include a second drawing operation upon cooling from the first extrusion, to provide a good finish, the stock is then placed on a single or multiple saw and after cutting the parts are pierced for riveting and treated to remove sharp edges.
