A method of making scissors comprises cutting or stamping out from rolled metal a rough shape in respect of each scissor portion (i.e. a scissor blade or a combined scissor blade and finger bow)' being produced, and subjecting said rough shape to a cold shaping treatment, including a rolling pressing or stamping operation of such extent that the width or the length of the shaped part is considerably altered; for the production of each scissor portion in a form suitable for the final operations of grinding and, if desired, hardening. The cold shaping may be effected by rolling either longitudinally or transversely of the scissor portion which may then be additionally cold treated e.g. cut, stamped and ground. Alternatively the cold shaping processes comprises pressing in dies to form a blade concave on both sides. Finger eyes may be formed integral with the blades or produced separately and subsequently secured to the blade portion by welding. A number of specific examples are described.
