Abstract
398,050. Concrete piles. GRœN & BILFINGER AKT.-GES., 4, Akademiestrasse, Mannheim, Germany. Nov. 4, 1932, No. 31198. Convention date, Oct. 24. [Class 68 (ii).] In making a concrete or like pile in a preparatory tube, the concrete &c. is maintained under pressure and is agitated during the withdrawal of the tube. The Figure shows a preparatory tube a with a hopper c fitted at its base with a clack valve e. Compressed air is supplied by a pipe bl, thus closing the valve e and expelling the subsoil water through a pipe d. The hopper c is then filled with concrete &c., and compressed air is supplied by the branch b<11>; the contents of the hopper are thus discharged into the tube a, and are compressed and agitated therein, for example, by vibrating the tube vertically or transversely, or in both ways. The compression may b effected by weights, or by air or water pressure. To effect the agitation, the hopper c is removed, and replaced by links connecting the cross-piece n to an agitating-device. Preferably there is charged into the hopper a quantity of material sufficient to make the whole pile.
