Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently construct good quality of sand piles by a method in which the tip of a pipe is penetrated to the adequate position of the ground under water and sand is charged into the pipe by means of compressed air to form sand stopper in such a way as to avoid the back flow and intrusion of water and soil.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow pipe 1 is put into water while supplying compressed air through a supply pipe 7 and its tip 3 is penetrated to an adequate depth underground 9. The penetration work is once stopped, a quick air exhauster 8 is opened to discharge air inside the hollow pipe 1, and then sand 10 is charged through a valve 6 from a hopper 5 into the hollow pipe 1. After the charge of sand 10 in an appropriate amount, air exhaustion is stopped, compressed air is again supplied through the supply pipe 7, the hollow pipe 1 is slightly drawn up, soil present in the tip portion of the pipe 1 is discharged, and sand stopper 11 is formed inside the tip portion 3. Afterwards, air exhaustion from the quick air exhauster 8, the charge of sand from the hopper 5, slight withdrawal of the hollow pipe 1, and the supply of compressed air through the supply pipe 7 are repeated in order to form good quality of sand piles.
