Abstract
398,039. Rolling strips. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F., Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany. Oct. 10, 1932, No. 28216. Convention date, Nov. 25, 1931. [Class 83 (iv).] Strip is rolled in a continuous mill comprising roll stands 1, 2, 3 each consisting of working rolls 4, 5 and backing rolls 6, 7. The strip is transferred from each roll stand to the next by conveyers 8, 9 which can be separated to allow the strip to " loop " if the succeeding pair of rolls runs at lower speed. One of the conveyers may be positively driven as by a chain driving a bevel gear 34, the other conveyer being frictionally driven thereby. The shafts of the conveyer pulleys 10 .. 13 are secured to longitudinal intergeared shafts 16, 24, so that on one of these latter shafts being rocked, as by a link 37, the upper conveyer 8 moves bodily upwards about the shaft 16 while the lower conveyer 9 moves bodily downwards about the shaft 24.
