Abstract

397,793. Knitting-machines. SINFRA AKT.-GES., ST. GALLEN, St. Gallen, Switzerland. March 23, 1933, No. 8832. Convention date, March 24, 1932. [Class 74 (ii).] An electric motor for driving a knitting-machine is placed below and embodied as a unitary structure with the knitting head so as to form a support for it. The head may be carried on the upper bearing brackets of the motor and a distance piece. A reduction gear may be provided. The needle cylinder 80 may be mounted in independent bearings 11 above the motor and flexibly coupled thereto. In a modification the cylinder is fixed and the cam box is carried by the armature shaft 7. The needle and cam cylinders may be driven in opposite directions. The control switch 15 is mounted on the motor casing 1. Aplurality of knitting machines may be arranged as a multiple unit. When alternating current is used the speed of the motors can be regulated by varying the periodicity of the current. The hooks of the needles may face outwards or inwards.
