[Class 80 (ii). ] In vehicle change-speed gear control mechanism with a single control lever 3 which operates sliding gears 22 &c. selectively, a member such as 6, Fig. 2, with oppositely extending ramps 7 disengages the engine clutch as required. The ramp member 6 may be secured to the lever 3 either above or below the usual ball support 2 as shown in Fig. 2. A link 12 extending from the clutch control is jointed to two bell cranks 11 turning on fixed pivots 10 and supporting two rollers 8, one adjacent each of the ramps 7. On movement of the lever 3 in either direction to effect a speed change, one or other of the rollers 8 is engaged by a ramp 7 and depressed so that the link 12 is pulled to disengage the clutch. A position of rest of the partially displaced lever 3 with a roller 8 in a notch 24 in a ramp 7 corresponds to a disengaged engine clutch prior to disengagement of the gears. An extreme position of the lever 3 shown in Fig. 4 corresponds to a re-engaged clutch after a completed gear change. As shown in Fig. 5, the ramps 7 may be carried by a sliding striker 20 engaged by the lever 3 instead of by that lever itself.
